Take Heed

Mark 13: 28-31 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner; when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my words shall not pass away. KJV
While visiting by phone recently, I learned that a close friend of mine was experiencing some heaviness in his chest. I listened quietly as he continued to share some of the discomforting symptoms. I encouraged him to see a doctor. Two days later, someone wrote to say that our mutual friend was in the hospital for testing.
Many friends covered him in prayer, and praise God because our prayer was heard, and answered! He's now back home.
Had he ignored the warnings much longer, he could have had a massive heart attack. But because he took heed to the symptoms and the warning, he is recovering.
Jesus has given signs and warnings throughout the Bible of his return. As a believer, we know that he has promised us that just as he left, he would come again. Those waiting and watching will see his appearance. Those who are unprepared, will not.
Jesus said that he does not know when his return will be. God alone knows when he will send his Son back for his Church, but again, he gave us signs to watch for. For more detailed reading, please read Mark 13
In the mean time, we are not to stand idly by wringing our hands. We must be about our Father’s business. The fields are still white with the abundant harvest. Pray for the workers, pray for the lost, and prepare for the coming of the Lord. Time is drawing near.
There is no greater time than now to minister to needs. Tsunami has taken a toll on so many lives, earthquakes shake the world, and wars are raging. No, not everyone can go, but we can help send others with financial aid. And, most importantly, we can keep them covered in prayer.
Finally, if your heart is not right with God and you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, now is the time. Jesus did the work on the cross that you might not have to pay the penalty of death. Take heed, hear the voice of the Spirit as he calls, “Come, receive the free gift of salvation.”
