Perfect Peace

John 16:33

‘These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’  KJV

I watched a movie last night about a volcanic eruption. I’m certain the movie was intended to heighten emotions, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats; and cause awareness of the possibility of a major eruption. In turn,  this also causes fear to arise in the heart. I felt the tension in my own body grow as I watched the volcano erupt, hot lava oozing across the land and ash filling the air as a mushroom cloud covered the earth below. My mind raced with horrifying thoughts.

I turned off the TV and went to my room to read and thanked God for his Word and protection. I slept well. Here’s a wonderful scripture for those of you who don’t. Proverbs 3:24When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.KJV

All we have to do is look around us to see that disasters are all everywhere. As a matter of fact, they have been on the increase this year. We have many opportunities to become afraid and live in terror.  Yet God says to “Be of good Cheer.”  He has overcome the world.

As Jesus hung on the Cross, he spoke three final words, “It is finished.” Jesus tasted sin, death, and the cross and was about to go into the pits of hell to pay a price for something he did not owe. But, in doing so, we were pardoned from a horrible eternal death for sin we did commit.

As he spoke those words, he wanted everyone to know that he had made peace with God for all through his death if all accept, by faith, his sacrifice. After three days, he then arose victorious. O Praise His Holy Name!

Although there is still tribulation on earth, if we rely on, and hide under the protective shield of God, we can have perfect peace through every situation. Through every moment of every day, we can walk victorious because of Jesus.

Prayer: Father thank you for your finished work on the Cross. I pray that every reader will know and experience your perfect peace in every situation. Amen
